I do mostly office type work and PHP development, with Net Beans as my IDE. Pcmanfm says the total size of files is 3.7G and the total size of the stick is 359.9G.
The improvements in pcmanfm have been especially dramatic. :) Another issue I've found is that there doesn't seem to be a way to change my password? The last major issue for me is that double-clicking doesn't seem to work. But there's one thing I'm not entirely clear about: the announcement calls this release the "stable beta"; is it a beta version? I tried Lubuntu but I had serious problems with getting the mobile broadband working.
== Lubuntu is a Ubuntu variant using the LXDE desktop.
It's designed to be a lightweight and easy-to-use desktop environment.
Unfortunately those do not work on my Laptop since both of my networking components require a proprietary and not included driver, thus the installer fails to recognize those devices, cannot connect to the Internet and all I can do is basically exit the setup.
I'd be glad if there was a 64-bit live-cd or if you could explain how I can include those drivers to the mini-ubuntu images (my WLAN device is a Atheros AR9285 and my LAN controller a Marvell Yukon 88E059 if that is somehow relevant).
I would like Totem or VLC as my video player than Gnome-Mplayer... Once lubuntu can be build completely from the Ubuntu repository without using not officially supported PPA, building lubuntu will be easier.
Thanks to all people which help to provide support and documentation to new Lubuntu users. This release is not an end, but just the beginning.
I hope this distribution still light not like xubuntu full of gnome app i really like lubuntu i have a acer aspire 5532 and i am using lubuntu because is just amazing i don't like gnome and kde ew. Lubuntu not just for old computers :) -Javier The only version of Py Neighborhood (the LAN file tranfer client) worth offering is the latest version 0.5.1rc, because it's the only one that works!
Even 0.5 doesn't work and forget the 0.4 version that is the default.
Please note also that Lubuntu 10.04 is not a LTS version.
For the future we aim to include all packages of lubuntu in the Ubuntu repository.
